Cursive words questions
Why practice whole words instead of single letters?
Because cursive is about the joins. A letter that looks right on its own can still be joined badly. Words force the exit stroke of one letter to meet the entry stroke of the next at the right height, which is the skill that makes cursive readable.
Which words should a beginner write first?
Short words made of letters from the same stroke family: it, tie, lit, will, then cat, sun, dog. The three-letter page of the worksheet follows that idea. Sight words come next because they appear in everything a child reads and writes.
