How to write numbers in cursive
- Numbers are tall: start at the top line and finish on the baseline, like a capital letter.
- Do not join digits to each other. 2026 is four separate numerals with a small gap between them.
- Match the slant of your letters so a date or an address looks consistent.
- Write number words as ordinary cursive words, fully joined: seven, twelve.

Are numbers written differently in cursive?
Barely. Numbers are not joined to each other, so cursive numerals are the same shapes as print numerals, written with the same slant as the surrounding cursive letters. The 1, 4 and 7 are usually written with a single stroke and the 2 and 3 with a little more curve. What changes most is the number words: seven, twelve, twenty are written as joined cursive.
How tall are numbers on three-line paper?
Numbers are tall: they start on the top line and sit on the baseline, like capital letters.
