Why practice cursive with quotes
A quote is a complete sentence with a capital, a period and often a comma, so it rehearses the parts of cursive that isolated words skip. It also gives a reason to write slowly and carefully, which is exactly what handwriting practice needs.
Older students and adults often prefer quotes to the simpler sentences on the cursive sentences page. Both use the same three-line guides.
How to use the quote worksheet
- Read the quote out loud.
- Trace the dashed line, keeping the pencil down inside each word.
- Copy it on the blank line without looking at the model.
- Pick a favorite and write it on blank handwriting paper to keep.
