How to practice cursive sentences
- Read the sentence aloud first.
- Trace the dashed line slowly, keeping the pencil down inside each word.
- Write the sentence on the blank line without looking at the model.
- Compare the two: check the slant, the height of short letters, and the gaps between words.

Cursive sentences questions
When should a child move from words to sentences?
As soon as they can write ten or so short words without looking at a model. Sentences add capitals, spacing between words and punctuation, which are the last pieces of fluent cursive.
What is a pangram and why practice it?
A pangram is a sentence that uses every letter of the alphabet at least once. "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" is the best known. Writing one is a complete review of the lowercase alphabet in a single line.
How much space should go between words in cursive?
About the width of a lowercase o. Inside a word the letters touch; between words there is one clear gap. The blank lines on the worksheet are wide enough to keep that spacing.
